Manchester United forward Robin van Persie feels 'betrayed' by manager Louis van Gaal for his treatment in the lead up to his exit from the club, according to The Sun.

Van Persie is on the verge of leaving Old Trafford for Turkish club Fenerbahce, having completed the first half of a medical and having agreed personal terms on a £200,000-a-week contract. United have accepted an offer for the player and he is now set to bring the curtain down on a three-year spell with the Red Devils.
However the report claims that the 31-year-old has fallen out with manager Van Gaal, and the player feels he has been forced out of the club. Van Persie and Van Gaal were initially close through their days with the Dutch national team before Van Gaal arrived at United, and the forward reportedly played a key role in Van Gaal being appointed as David Moyes' successor last year.

Though Van Gaal - who is famed for being hard-nosed - has not been impressed by the player in training generally over the last year and was reluctant to play him in the club's first team with any regularity as a result. As well as that, Van Gaal has been unable to issue any guarantees to the player over his first team future for next season.
Reports have emerged that the relationship between the two is now irreparable, and that has contributed to the player's exit. Van Persie will likely complete his transfer out of the club on Sunday and could be presented as Fenerbahce's newest recruit the following day.

United are now stepping up their hunt to find a man to replace Van Persie, with a number of names already thrown into the mix. The Independent cite names such as Thomas Muller and Harry Kane as possible candidates to be brought in.

The club however will complete the signing of Matteo Darmian from Torino in the coming days and present first signing Memphis Depay to the press on Friday.
